After 5+ years of teaching database related modules at Nanyang Polytechnic, I have finally plucked up my courage to pursue something that is of my interest - data science. There are 2 main reasons behind this; to upgrade my skillsets to stay relevant, to make better use of my data integration skillset to hopefully create something useful(?, no idea at this juncture yet).
And so I started reading up articles about data science, searching for courses about data science (online, offline), subscribing to newsletter about data science, learning along with many others at data science competitions hosted at this amazing Kaggle community (https://www.kaggle.com).
Still, I find myself overwhelmed and at times confused with the tons of resources available on the internet. Is that a better way to structure my learning such that I can learn in a progressive manner and stay focus ??
After much research and chats with random strangers on linkedIn, I decided to enrol in this Data Science Immersive Bootcamp (Singapore), by General Assembly. It is a 12 weeks full-time program and it is heavily subsidised by IMDA (https://www.imda.gov.sg/imtalent/training-and-courses/ga-data-science-immersive). I am the 10th batch and the duration of this camp is from 16 Sep 2019 to 6 Dec 2019.
Fast forward to today, I have graduated ! What a journey I have gone through. I would say it is intensive in terms of the pace but at the same time, it was fun working along with my coursemates and supporting one another. I would be sharing more in my subsequent posts. stay tuned!
